If we’ve been quiet on the Social Media front, now you will know why! We’ve been preparing for months for the National Stationery Show which took place May 19-22, 2013 at the Javits Center in New York City. During our week-long stint in New York, we debuted our brand-spankin’ new line of social stationery which includes cards for every occasion, custom hand-lettered rubber stamps, art prints, booze bags, drink tags and more! (These new items will be available in our online shop beginning June 22, so please stay tuned for your chance to purchase them online. In the meantime, check your favorite neighborhood stationery store and ask for our cards! We will be in 50 stores nationwide beginning in the next few weeks.)
We had a terrific time meeting the owners of the shops our work will be featured in, as well as other press and paper folk! By the end, we were a tad delirious and our faces hurt from smiling so much. I took some photos of our booth and some of our new products. Feel free to check out the nice feature on Oh So Beautiful Paper for more detailed shots!
Our booth was constructed with a little help from the talented and amazing Jackson Morley, and the lights came from a local electrical shop here called Major Electric.
We had large art prints for sale, which by the end of the show were being sold as cards as well! It was great to receive feedback from people stopping by and looking at our work. It was a terrific surprise to see that our “It’s Going To Be O.K.” print was featured one of our favorite blogs, Swissmiss, after seeing it in our booth!
Our logo and booth number were hand painted using Sign Painter’s One Shot. The best!
Every day, we held a Hand Lettering Demonstration. People lined up to have their names (or anything, for that matter!) lettered by Arley-Rose Torsone. It was a huge success! The Knot featured us with a video that was made on-the-spot – check it out!
One of our best-selling cards! “Now that your wedding is over, you can finally stop pinning and we can hang out again!”
Our “What’s Up, Hombre?” cards were nominated for Best New Product! They both feature a rainbow roll “ombre” effect.
People love booze! So we designed some handy bags to dress up your bottle of wine or champagne that you bring to the party!
It was a huge honor to be nominated in three categories for a Louie Award! Every year, the prestigious Louie Awards are granted to the best in the stationery business. We won in the category for Print and Production Excellence and are extremely honored. Above, the entrance to the gala, featuring an amazing paper sculpture by the talented Isabel Uria of Paper Design Paper. Below, Arley-Rose and Morgan accept their Louie Award!
Looks pretty heavy, huh? Well, let me tell you – it is! One of my most memorable souvenirs I received from the show was, well, not only this thing, but also a chipped tooth that came as a result from Morgan’s excitement when she held it up too quickly for a photo! In front of my face! The glass award remained intact. My tooth, however, did not.
We had a great time at the Paper Party, hosted by the amazing Nole Garey and the Oh So Beautiful Paper crew, along with the generous sponsorship from Mohawk, Minted, Smock, Legion Paper, Chronicle Books, Hello! Lucky, Tradeshow Bootcamp, and the Ladies of Letterpress!
Special thanks to our amazing Accounts Manager, Sydney vonDembowski and his partner Brian Santos; Lorna Calderini (aka Morgan’s mom); our crew in the studio Kat Cummings, Jungil Hong and Jill Colinan; our suppliers here in Providence – Paperworks and Faces Imaging; our fabulous group of supportive friends – Alyn Carlson, Hillary Parker and Carol Sweeney; and our clients for telling us they need stationery for other special things besides their wedding invitations! We’re grateful to be Rhode Islanders – so we owe a huge thank you to RISCA for our professional development grant that enabled us to create all of our marketing materials. Last but not least, a big shout-out to Katie from Kelp Designs and the Tradeshow Bootcamp folks who gave us a scholarship and helped us prep for this occasion! We couldn’t have done it without you all!
